¿Incide el resultado contable y la dimensión empresarial en la eficiencia de las empresas hoteleras?

Abstract

Resumen: En este trabajo se estima empíricamente la eficiencia sectorial de las empresas hoteleras españolas en la primera mitad de la década con datos microeconómicos y su relación con el resultado económico y la dimensión de la empresa. Con metodología no paramétrica DEA se obtienen los índices de eficiencia a nivel global e individual para cada una de las empresas hoteleras analizadas, y su evolución en el periodo. En un análisis de segunda etapa se aplica un modelo de análisis de la varianza, que permite concluir que las empresas más eficientes son las de menor dimensión y aquellas que obtienen resultados económicos positivos. La eficiencia, además, se muestra como una variable estable a corto plazo.Palabras clave: Empresas hoteleras, turismo, análisis sectoriales, eficiencia y evaluación del rendimiento. Affects the accounting and the business dimension in the efficiency of the hotel industry?Abstract: This paper estimates empirically the efficiency of Spanish hotel companies in the first half of the decade and its relationship with economic result and size. The nonparametric DEA model with economic and financial information (balance sheet and income statement) is used. Efficiency index globally and individually are obtained for each hotel´s companies analyzed and their evolution. The second step analysis applies a general linear model, which allows to conclude that the most efficient companies are those with smaller size and better economic performance, showing a behavior of the technical efficiency as a variable short -term stable.
