In vivo dissociation of factor vii (ahf) activity and factor viii‐related antigen in von willebrand's disease

Abstract: Using monospecific rabbit antihuman factor VIII antiserum, we have examined the amounts of factor VIII-related antigen and compared these to the levels of factor VIII procoagulant activity in normal subjects and patients with von Willebrand's disease. We have observed that even without transfusion all nine probands with von Willebrand's disease and 20 of their 34 relatives possessed a significantly elevated factor VIII activity/factor VIII-related antigen ratio when compared to that of 55 normal subjects. It i… Show more

“…In addition, the inheritance of severe vWD is almost always autosomal recessive, while most milder forms of vWD are transmitted in a dominant fashion. Though an increase in FVIII/vWF ratios has been found in some carriers of severe vWD (2) (11). The 1.9-kb probe (K2), generated by a Sac I digest of pDL34, extended 100 base pairs (bp) from the nucleotides encoding amino acid 2225 of pro-vWF into the 3' untranslated region.…”
