Abstract:Plant pathogens utilize effectors to subvert host cell biology for facilitating infection. However certain effectors, called as the avirulence proteins, trigger immune responses in the host. AvrPi54 is an avirulence protein from fungus Magnaporthe oryzae which induces the defense reactions in rice cells that contain Pi54 resistance gene.
