In-vitro antibacterial, antifungal activity of some transition metal complexes of thiosemicarbazone Schiff base (HL) derived from N4-(7′-chloroquinolin-4′-ylamino) thiosemicarbazide

Abstract: -(7 0 -chloroquinolin-4 0 -ylamino)thiosemicarbazide with 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde. The structures of the complexes were determined on the basis of the elemental analyses, spectroscopic data (IR, electronic, 1 H and 13 C NMR and Mass spectra) along with magnetic susceptibility measurements, molar conductivity and thermogravimetric analyses. Electrical conductance measurement revealed the non-electrolytic nature of the complexes. The resulting colored products are mononuclear in nature. On the basis of the above s… Show more

“…(C=S) [20,21], which is shifted to lower wavenumber in metal chelates by 25 cm -1 to 50 cm -1 , indicating coordination of sulfur to metal atom. Which is further confirmed by band observed at 354 cm -1 to 326 cm -1 assigned for v(M-S) frequency [22,23]. The single band observed in the range of 3000 cm -1 to 3200 cm -1 which correspond to assignment of v(-NH-) stretch.…”

“…Thiosemicarbazone derivatives and their metal complexes have been extensively explored in pharmacology due to their broad spectrum of biological activities, including antimicrobial, anticancer, and antiviral activities [ 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 ]. Thiosemicarbazones are known to have a general formula of R 1 R 2 C=N-NH-C=S-NR 3 R 4, which make them significant donor ligands through their hydrazine nitrogen and sulfur atoms.…”

“…Several research groups have focused their studies on the development of new transition metal TSCs-containing compounds to be used (both in vitro and in vivo) as potential antiviral [15], antitumoral [16][17][18][19], antiparasital [20,21], antifungal [22,23] and antibacterial agents [24][25][26].…”
