Abstract

This study presents a descriptive content analysis of the First Season of HBO TV Series In Treatment from a counseling ethics perspective. The descriptive content analysis guided by the categories of ACA (2014) code of ethics showed that ethical situations regarding boundaries and dual relationships were the most prevalent on the show, followed by situations involving confidentiality, and professional responsibility. Findings are discussed in the light of previous research regarding the observed ethical issues in the show. Recommendations regarding the show's use as an experiential learning method in undergraduate and graduate counseling ethics courses is proposed.
