In-situ XAFS Study on Materials for Lithium-Ion Battery

Abstract: To investigate the electronic and structural changes of materials (especially, cathode materials) for lithium ion batteries during charge and discharge, in-situ XAFS study was carried out by using beamline BL 16B2 in Spring-8 (Hyogo, Japan). Ni and Co K-edge X-ray absorption spectra of have been collected by using in-situ coin cells and analyzed. KEYWORDS: lithium ion battery, in situ XAFS, deterioration mechanism, synchrotron radiation Fig.1 Change in resistance of lithium ion battery during cycle test.
