In situ polymerization and performance of alicyclic polyimide/graphene oxide nanocomposites derived from 6FAPB and CBDA

Abstract: A series of alicyclic polyimide/graphene oxide(PI/GO) nanocomposites were successfully prepared by in situ polymerization of 1,4-bis(4-amino-2-trifluoromethylphenoxy)benzene(6FAPB) and 1,2,3,4-cyclobutanetetracarboxylic dianhydride(CBDA) as well as GO, followed by thermal imidization. The effect of GO on the thermal stability, optical properties, mechanical properties, water absorption and water surface contact angle of the PI-based nanocomposites was investigated. The optical properties of the pure alicyclic … Show more

“…The starting material for CMSMs is a polyamic acid solution (PAA) of the prepolymer of 6FAPB‐CBDA‐type polyimide with the solid content of 15 wt% in dimethylacetamide (DMAc), of which the viscosity is 0.294 Pa/s. The synthesis procedure and condition were given in previous report …”

“…For the neat PI film and nanohybrid films, a broad peak was observed at a 2 θ value of approximately 16°, which indicates that the films were amorphous . The XRD patterns of the nanohybrid films (PI/EFG 0.3) with small amounts of EFG up to 0.3 wt% were similar to that of the neat PI, which shows that the EFG was well dispersed in the matrix . With further increases in the amount of EFG, however, intense peaks from the EFG were observed around 2 θ = 26.5° due to the aggregation of fillers in the matrix.…”

“…, PAA had an absorption peak for the amide group at 1637 cm −1 corresponding to the C=O stretching vibration. The typical absorption peaks of the imide group appeared at approximately 1367 cm −1 (C–N stretching), 1789 cm −1 (C=O asymmetric) and 1720 cm −1 (C=O symmetric), which indicate the extent of the imide group in the nanohybrid films and successful imidization . The two peaks at 2924 and 2855 cm −1 in the FTIR spectra of the nanohybrid films are attributed to the stretching vibration of aliphatic C–H on EFG …”
