In Situ IR Spectrum of 12-Tungstophosphoric Acid Hexahydrate with Planar H5O2+

Abstract: The in situ IR spectra of H 3 PW 12 O 40 ‚nH 2 O (n ) 0-6.2) in the range 4000-1100 cm -1 were measured, and that of H 3 PW 12 O 40 ‚6H 2 O (i.e., [H 5 O 2 + ] 3 [PW 12 O 40 3-]) with planar H 5 O 2 + was investigated. The spectrum showed a broad continuum below 3700 cm -1 , with peaks at 3420, 2720, 2030, and 1640 cm -1 , and was deconvoluted into five bands at 3420, 2720, 2030, 1780, and 1640 cm -1 . These bands, except for 2030 cm -1 , were shifted by the deuteration and are assigned to the vibration modes … Show more

“…The FTIR spectrum of Cs-PW is dominated by four main bands at around 1078, 986, 887, and 802 cm-1. These bands can be assigned as νas(P-O), νas(W-O), νas(W-Oc-W), and νas(W-Oe-W), respectively [23]. These peaks were observed in all the FTIR spectra of M-CsPW as an indication that the doped metal atoms did not severely affect the Keggin structure of Cs-PW.…”

“…Some absorptions bands observed in the spectrum of the just-protonated lm are not present for the dehydrated lm, as it was reported for other crystalline hydrates, and attributed to water and/or hydrated hydronium ions. 67,68 Aer dehydration, more matter intercalated with H 3 O + ions is aerwards diffracting, involving the increase of the peak H intensity in XRD diagram. The lm F2 was analysed by TEM-EDXS and found to be fully free of potassium, demonstrating the total exchange of the potassium ions by the hydronium ions ( Fig.…”
