In Situ Growth of Metallic 1T-MoS2 on TiO2 Nanotubes with Improved Photocatalytic Performance

Abstract: 1T-MoS2 is in situ grown on TiO2 nanotubes (TNTs) using a hydrothermal method, forming a 1T-MoS2@TNTs composite, which is confirmed by its physical characterization. The prepared composites show enhanced photocatalytic performance for the degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride under visible light, and the improved photocatalytic activity is closely related to the loaded amount of 1T-MoS2. Therein, 0.5 wt % 1T-MoS2@TNTs can degrade 57% in 1 h, which is the highest photocatalytic efficiency observed in experi… Show more

“…In addition, the morphology of 1T-MoS x was detected separately. The HRTEM result of 1T-MoS x in figure 3(e) agrees with the prominent lattice detected by XRD, that is, the main exposed lattice surface of 1T-MoS x is the (002) plane with a lattice spacing of 6.4 Å (theoretically, 0.62 nm experimentally) [44,45]. Through the enlarged HRTEM (figure 3(f)), the lattice arrangement follows the octahedral structure of the 1T metal phase, that is, the connecting lines between the six S atoms and Mo atom are perpendicular to each other, just as shown in the schematic diagram in the lower right corner of figure 3(f).…”

“…To date, numerous modification strategies have been reported to improve the photocatalytic performance, such as solid solution construction [9] , nanomaterials development [10,11] , morphology control [12,13] , heteroatoms doping [14] , defect engineering [15] , loading cocatalysts [16,17] , constructing heterostructures [18,19] , etc. Among these strategies, mimicking natural photosynthesis by coupling two dissimilar semiconductors to construct a Z-scheme heterostructure is of greater prominence.…”
