The increasing resistance of bacteria to antibacterial therapy poses an enormous health problem, it renders the development of new antibacterial agents with novel mechanism of action an urgent need. Peptide deformylase, a metalloenzyme which catalytically removes N-formyl group from N-terminal methionine of newly synthesized polypeptides, is an important target in antibacterial drug discovery. In this study, we report the structure-based virtual screening of ZINC database in order to discover potential hits as bacterial peptide deformylase enzyme inhibitors with more affinity as compared to GSK1322322, previously known inhibitor. After virtual screening, fifteen compounds of the top hits predicted were purchased and evaluated in vitro for their antibacterial activities against one Gram positive (Staphylococcus aureus) and three Gram negative (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella. pneumoniae) bacteria in different concentrations by disc diffusion method. Out of these, three compounds, ZINC00039650, ZINC03872971 and ZINC00126407, exhibited significant zone of inhibition. The results obtained were confirmed using the dilution method. Thus, these proposed compounds may aid the development of more efficient antibacterial agents.

Nano Technology means optimizing performance and providing smart solutions for the future. It means configuring molecules to change in size and properties for enhancement as in the case of smart fabrics. Smart fabrics can help manufacturers and designers with the increased emphasis on lifestyle, aesthetic appeal and form demanded for technological products. Nanosize particles can exhibit unexpected properties different from those of the bulk material. The basic premise is that properties can dramatically change when a substance's size is reduced to the nanometer range. Nanotechnology has versatile applications in Textile Chemicals industry in manufacturing garments with stain resistance, flame retardant finishes, wrinkle resistance finishes, moisture management, antimicrobial qualities, UV protection, and soil release properties. Incorporating nanomaterials into a textile can affect a host of properties, including shrinkage, strength, electrical conductivity and flammability. Nanotechnology has also made a tremendous impact on functionality and performance. Nano-treated textiles may lead to many inventions as the science develops in future.

Genomic investigations into the diversity of environmental microbes are leading to insights into ecological dynamics, the evolution of new forms of biological systems, and the discovery of new functions that might be exploited for biotechnological and biomedical purposes. It is now clear that an understanding of the community structure, function and evolution of bacteria in their natural environments is required to meet the promise of microbial biotechnology. To meet these new challenges, microbiologists are applying the tools of genomics and related highthroughput technologies to both cultured microbes and environmental samples. This work will lead to new views on ecosystems and biological function together with the biotechnology enabled by this science.
