It is known that the development of the internet and technology provides many conveniences to people. In particular, people can carry out their work outside the offices in different environments where they can enjoy. These environments can be a cafe or library with the necessary infrastructure, as well as a touristic destination in the country or abroad. This situation is called digital nomadism. This concept argues that people can fulfill their duties even when they are traveling without going to their workplaces. Especially during the Covid-19 pandemic period, it has been seen that most professions can be done remotely outside of the office environment. In this context, the aim of the study is to reveal the theoretical foundations of the concept of digital nomadism. In this context, the aim of the study was to reveal the theoretical foundations of the concept of digital nomadism and to evaluate digital nomadism as a tourist typology. A literature review was made using secondary data sources, and a conceptual framework was created from domestic and foreign sources related to the subject. As a result of the research, there is not study has been found in which digital nomadism, which is a new concept, is expressed as a tourist typology. In this context, comparisons with the tourist typologies of the most well-known Cohen, Plog and Smith were made and their similar and different aspects were revealed. Finally, the characteristics of digital nomadism, which is considered as a tourist typology and proposed, are determined and presented to the tourism literature.

This article adds to current research on mobile transnational online workers (digital nomads) who travel the world in search of a holistic lifestyle that balances work and leisure. Using Kannisto's (2014) and D'Andrea's (2007) work on 'global nomads' as a theoretical lens and Nowicka's (2007) research on mobile professionals as a guide, I discuss the multiple meanings of 'home' for digital nomads who stayed in ChiangMai, Thailand, in 2019. I will show that people feel at home when travelling with a loved one or by surrounding themselves with objects of emotional value. Furthermore, digital nomads create a feeling of being at home by connecting with their family via social media and video calling apps, while at the same time keeping them at a comfortable distance. Finally, some digital nomads envision an idealized 'home base' that is defined by social relations and not necessarily by the geography or amenities of a place.

Indonesia is one of the destinations countries for digital nomads in South East Asia. Digital Nomad can be described by the person who combining work and leisure activities, without geographical border. The digital nomad lifestyle is becoming trends after an American tourist, Kristen Gray becoming viral on the Twitter Platform, she promoting Bali as a heaven for the digital nomad because of the low cost of living and cultural openness by selling eBook and open consultation services for the people who live in the America and European continents, but then she deported by the Indonesian Immigration Authorities, charged with the misuse of visas (she was used tourism visa for business purposes). Then, the research question arises, Are there potential gentrification effects of digital nomad lifestyle to the local people? And what the government should do to tackle this issue? This research is conducted by analyzing tweets using #kristengray and #digitalnomad hashtag, obtained from 12 January to 12 March 2021. The results are more than 49 percent of users, which dominated by the foreigner is defending Kristen Gray, and forcing the Indonesian Government to open Bali as digital nomad living places, but 51 percent of users, who dominated by Indonesian is refusing what the Kristen Gray doing, by arguing if Bali is purely just for tourism places. The results are the gentrification potentially happening between the digital nomad and local people, because of the difference in economic level, culture and value. Then, the government should consider making a policy to minimize the effects of gentrification resulted in digital nomad activities, suggested opening special visas with the restriction and tax policy for the digital nomad.
