In Memoriam: John F. McGowan: Professional Pioneer and War Hero

Abstract

at the age of 97, with his wife and daughters by his side. In 1951, John married Mary Jean Markovetz, whom he met when they both attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. They had seven children. Mary Jean passed away in 1990. Five years later, he married Ludmilla Westling, with whom he raised three step-children. John had seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
