“…LaBerge earned his Ph.D. with a systematic revision of Melissodes in 1955 and, immediately after graduation, was hired as Assistant Professor and Museum Curator at the University of Kansas, basically assuming Michener's duties during the latter's sabbatical in Brazil. It was at the end of this period in Kansas that LaBerge met the influential Brazilian bee taxonomist, Jesus Santiago Moure (Engel et al, 2012).
