Improving the system of technical diagnostics and environmentally safe operation of soil hydraulic structures on small rivers

Abstract: This paper reports the results of studying soil hydraulic structures (SHS) of the CC1 class of consequences on small rivers. The representativeness of the results for the domestic and world practice of further operation of such structures is ensured by the typical technical and technological approaches to the construction, materials, and conditions of their work. Dams are built of soil materials and operated over significant time periods while their standard service life has been exhausted, which increases the… Show more

“…Similarly with [21], [22], geophysical surveys using natural pulse electromagnetic field of the Earth and vertical electric sounding were carried out in 2016 and 2022. Results of the activities, which took part in 2016, have helped identify the ways of RAW filtration migration through the HS body and base as well as define the areas where soil of the protective dam differs in stress, suffusion zones, water saturation sites etc.…”

“…The NPEMFE method allows for the recording of the destruction of rocks in the microcrack development stage by recording the characteristic pulsed electromagnetic signal. This unique feature of the method provides its high sensitivity and informativeness and allows for shortterm (from several hours to several months) forecasting of catastrophic phenom ena [13].…”

“…For theoretical and experimental evidence of the applica tion of NPEMFE to identify zones of loosening and wetting in the body of canals and regulating pools of irrigation sys tems, the nature of the change in amplitude during the trans fer of uniaxial static load to bulk soil samples was studied. Such experimental studies on the idealized model are a justi fication for the possibility of assessing the technical condition of canals and regulating pools of irrigation systems by NPEMFE [13].…”

“…As a rule, they were built on large and medium-sized rivers and, unfortunately, a signifi cant number of them do not function today. Instead, the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine has introduced a project in the form of an interactive online map that provides open access to data on quality indicators and environmental assessment of water in the control section lines of observations [19,20]. Thus, with a total of more than 5,000 rivers and streams within the Dnipropetrovsk region, according to the interactive map, only ~50 observation posts are active.…”
