Improving the contact strength of V-belt pulleys using plastic deformation

Abstract: The article presents the results of a study of the contact strength of V-belt pulleys when they work on contact collapse. To increase the wear resistance and contact strength of the tribological conjugation, a method for rolling around the side surfaces of pulleys with a roller and a device for its implementation are proposed. The proposed method and device can increase the wear resistance of the pulleys, and hence the durability    of 1.6 ... 2.1 times.

“…Experimental studies were carried out on a 1K62B lathe and screw-cutting machine, equipped with an installation for RSO, as well as on a model 16K20F3 lathe, equipped with a special installation for processing RSO of fatigue samples. The ranges of variation of the processing mode parameters were: feed (S) -0.07...0.7 mm/rev, part rotation frequency (n) -100...1200 rpm, profile radius of the roller (Rpr) -2...15 mm , estimated roller tension (hр) -0.1...1 mm, actual gap (ad) -0...0.2 mm, actual tension (hd) -0.05...0.9 mm [7].…”

“…The amount of wear of the sock in plowshares, restored by welding tires made of steel 45 with sormite surfacing and vibration hardening, respectively, 1.2 and 1.1 times less than in plowshares made of steel L-53 and steel 65G, subjected to vibration hardening. Wear on the wall thickness of plowshares, restored by welding tires made of steel 45 with surmaite surfacing and vibration hardening, respectively, 1.54 and 1.2 times less compared to the wear of plowshares made of steel L-53 and steel 65G subjected to vibration hardening [9].…”

“…When approaching one electrode of a given shape (tool) to another (workpiece), the surface of the latter will take the shape of the surface of the first. The productivity of the process and the quality of the resulting surface are mostly determined by the parameters of the electric pulses (their duration, tracking frequency, pulse energy) [7].…”
