IntroductionCancer patients face a variety of challenges in understanding their diagnosis and treatment options. Making informed decisions requires health literacy. There is scant research on how colorectal cancer (CRC) survivors and their caregivers engage with healthcare systems and obtain cancer-related knowledge to maintain proper health literacy, which is crucial for enhancing their outcomes.Materials and methodsIn-depth semi-structured interviews (IDIs) with CRC survivors (n = 15) and online focus groups (FG) with informal caregivers (ICs) were held in Amman between Jan-June 2020. In-depth interviews were conducted using semi-structured interview protocol that addressed the healthcare experience of CRC cancer survivors. FGs evaluated ICs' perspectives of e-health for cancer care support. IDIs and FGs were done in the local Jordanian Arabic dialect, which was then translated into English. Transcribed audio-recordings were thematically coded and framework analysis was used.ResultsThe findings are organized around a central concept of “exploring the level of literacy and its impact.” From the overarching theme, three themes and subthemes emerged, including: (1) The current state of counseling and information provision, (2) The impact of lack of information, awareness, and literacy and (3) The health system's influence on literacy.ConclusionsPoor cancer literacy hinders patients throughout their cancer journey. Empowering cancer patients is crucial for a more timely and positive patient experience. Increased cancer literacy together with the creation of health-literate organizations and systems have the potential to improve patients' treatment throughout the continuum of care.

Purpose This study explores the potential of TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) in encouraging attitudinal change and long-term learning and how digital technology might influence this process. The significance of the study lies in its insights to educators and policymakers to enhance language education quality and promote sustainable learning in higher education. Using a socio-cultural theoretical framework, the study presents a novel perspective on integrating digital technology into language education for improved learning outcomes. Additionally, the findings can facilitate the development of inventive teaching methods incorporating digital technology, resulting in better language education outcomes in higher education. Methodology The population comprised faculty members of Chinese universities. Data was collected through a standardized questionnaire from 307 respondents and analyzed using Mplus. Findings The findings can be incorporated into language instruction rules to enhance language acquisition and advance intercultural understanding. Based on the study’s findings, researchers can conduct additional research on applying digital technology in language instruction and investigate its potential to support long-term learning and attitude development. As they work to create successful techniques for encouraging sustainable learning habits and good attitudes toward language acquisition, TESOL practitioners, educators, policymakers, and researchers will be impacted by the findings. Practical implications The findings can help TESOL practitioners create efficient teaching methods that encourage long-term learning habits and favorable attitudes toward language learning. Language teachers can use the results to improve their instruction methods and their effects on student learning. Originality/value Social and cultural theory supports this study’s model. The approach helps in defining and measuring the TESOL, sustainable Learning. The study further established the moderating role of digital technology and the mediating part of Improved self-efficacy and self-regulated Learning.

Background and Aims Providing education to patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the crucial roles of nurses and, there are various education methods for these patients. This study aimed to investigate the acceptability, feasibility, and effectiveness of smartphone‐based delivery (SPBD) of written educational materials in Iranian patients with CAD. Methods A total of 104 patients with CAD who were admitted to the cardiovascular unit of a large hospital in the northeast of Iran were randomly divided into control and intervention groups. When the standard educational content was provided, educational materials were delivered to the intervention group using a SPBD and to the control group using the routine print delivery (PD). The authors investigated the usability in the postintervention phase and information satisfaction and medication self‐efficacy in the pre‐ and postintervention phases. Results The mean age and the standard deviation of “patients” age in SPBD and PD groups was 51.8 ± 1.1 and 52.7 ± 1.3 years, respectively. No significant difference was observed between the two groups in terms of mean information satisfaction score ( p = 0.726); however, the information satisfaction score was significantly higher in the SPBD group than PD group after the intervention ( p = 0.012). The findings showed no statistically difference between two groups in terms of usability score ( p > 0.05). The two groups were homogenous in terms of the mean medication self‐efficacy score in the preintervention phase ( p = 0.987); however, it was significantly higher in SPBD group than PD group in the postintervention phase ( p = 0.045). Conclusion The SPBD method had the same usability as the PD method and at the same time this method was more effective in promoting medication self‐efficacy. Therefore, SPBD could be used to educate patients with CAD and their caregivers and have appropriate effectiveness and acceptability among the Iranian population.
