Improving Prediction Accuracy of Socio-Human Relationships in a Small-Scale Desalination Plant

Abstract: This study examines who are the social actors in coordinating the environmental hot spots along the process of desalination. The integrated model design of life cycle modeling and Social Network Analysis is evaluated holistically by the inventory of life cycle and actor engagement ratings. Instances of the first small-scale reverse osmosis desalination plant project in Kelantan, Malaysia were used to meet the demands of this study. Environmental performance is measured through the Eco-Indicator 99 method in th… Show more

“…The survey of the SWRO desalination plant was conducted in Kampung Pantai Senok at Tawang District on the east of Kelantan with a latitude of 6.168325 and longitude of 102.3452891 [ 39 ]. Kampung Pantai Senok (Senok Beach village) had a population of 7680 people living along the coastal area near Pengkalan Datu River, as depicted in Figure 1 .…”

“…The inventory database for the construction and operation phases is arranged and presented in a spreadsheet in Table 1. Most of the input and output data involving energy, raw materials, water, and gas for certain operations were collected and quantified from the local data sources from the Senok desalination plant engineer and administrators of Bachok district, and the remaining data were obtained from Ecoinvent, Simapro [19].…”

“…A comprehensive review of the research study has been collected via previous studies from local and international journals and conference proceedings papers, environmental quality acts and regulations, and government reports. The information regarding the desalination technology in Malaysia and other countries, including the by-products of the desalination processes, was identified to construct a questionnaire for the study [20]. The questionnaires included quantitative data on public awareness of the harmful effect of brine waste from desalination plants on the environment.…”
