Abstract-The performance based student assessment during OSPE, challenge the examiners accurately capturing students' practical skills. In order to solve this problem, this study introduces a new Innovative procedure of videotaped objective structured practical examination (VOSPE) in the area of health care education to support the existing objective structured practical exam (OSPE). The purpose of this study is to introduce the videotaped OSPE among fifth semester physiotherapy students to assess their stress level and performance irregular objective structured practical exam (ROSPE). Statistical analysis by one way ANOVA reported that there is no significant difference (P=0.578 and P=0.095) in the students' performance between the three stations. The student's survey feedback favors VOSPE for practical exam, which could be new method in the health science curriculum, support to increase OSPE station numbers, compensate personnel and to reduce examiner fatigue.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has required educators to adapt the in-person objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) to online settings in order for it to remain a critical component of the multifaceted assessment of a student’s competency. This systematic scoping review aimed to summarise the assessment methods and validity and reliability of the measurement tools used in current online OSCE (hereafter, referred to as teleOSCE) approaches. A comprehensive literature review was undertaken following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews guidelines. Articles were eligible if they reported any form of performance assessment, in any field of healthcare, delivered in an online format. Two reviewers independently screened the results and analysed relevant studies. Eleven articles were included in the analysis. Pre-recorded videos were used in 3 studies, while observations by remote examiners through an online platform were used in 7 studies. Acceptability as perceived by students was reported in 2 studies. This systematic scoping review identified several insights garnered from implementing teleOSCEs, the components transferable from telemedicine, and the need for systemic research to establish the ideal teleOSCE framework. TeleOSCEs may be able to improve the accessibility and reproducibility of clinical assessments and equip students with the requisite skills to effectively practice telemedicine in the future.

In spite of reported benefits of mobile devices, educational institutions criticise the use of mobile devices for learning because they are considered a distraction in class. Furthermore, researchers claim that the apparent mechanistic use of videos in classes does not contribute to deeper learning. To explore the affordances of videos and the possibility of deeper learning, a group of veterinary science students volunteered to explore the use of videos while attending theoretical and practical lectures. In this qualitative study, the participants tried out a variety of devices to take short videos of procedures and were actively involved with the learning content as they organised and reflected on the self-made videos. In spite of the critique against the use of mobile devices and the apparent shallow learning contribution of videos, participants self-reported that watching the videos again and the processes that took place after the videos were made contributed hugely to their learning experience. Participants demonstrated that mobile devices can be used constructively, and through a process of reflection deepen their learning experience. How the participants use the videos for learning can give lecturers new ideas on how they can use videos in their classes.

Abstract: The postgraduate paediatric OSCE provides a sound and valid means of assessing clinical skills at the postgraduate level. The video station provides an important new method of assessment. Its use in other postgraduate clinical examinations should be explored.
