Improving mathematical ability and student learning outcomes through realistic mathematic education (RME) approach

Abstract: This study was conducted based on preliminary study conducted by researchers who found that students' mathematical ability is still low to solve contextual problems, this will certainly have an impact on student learning outcomes that are less than the maximum. The purpose of this research is (1) To know the application of learning using Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning approach, (2) To know the improvement of students' mathematical ability on the story after using Realistic Mathematics Education… Show more

“…The motivation that children have in every learning activity is very helpful in improving learning outcomes in certain subjects (Lady et al, 2018;Loveys & Riggs, 2019). Learning motivation is considered important for the success of the learning process (Moè et al, 2018;Wang et al, 2018).…”

“…Mathematics learning starts from the reality that exists in everyday life. Contextual problems experienced by students can be used as a starting point for learning mathematics in helping students understand mathematics (Lady et al, 2018;Nirawati et al, 2021;Nurhasanah et al, 2019). This approach is appropriate to be applied in elementary schools because it can help students understand concepts in mathematics that are abstract in nature.…”

“…The Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach has been shown to be effective in improving students' mathematical reasoning skills (Halimah, 2020), cognitive scores, and affective outcomes (Purwati, 2020). It also enhances students' mathematization ability and learning outcomes (Lady, 2018). Irdawati (2019) also found that RME can improve student mathematics cognition, making it a valuable approach to improving the quality of math education.…”
