“…Many communities face critical housing shortages and associated overcrowding in urban, regional and remote areas documented over many years (AIHW 2014; 2020a, p. 115). Inadequate housing has a direct impact on the ability of local health services and communities to ensure social distancing, as well as immediately exacerbating a complex set of interrelated issues including family safety, preexisting overcrowding and ageing infrastructure (Cripps & Habibis 2019, p. 7).
