Chenille yarn has an increasing share of use in the upholstery fabric sector recently. To have an important place in chenille yarn production in the world, it has become necessary for manufacturers to improve the quality, durability, and performance of their products and to carry out innovative studies in this field. Increasing the abrasion resistance of the yarns that form the basis of upholstery fabrics will significantly affect the service life performance. In this study, two raw materials selected with different production parameters were examined. These raw materials are determined as viscose and polyester, which are mostly used for chenille yarn in the production facility. The parameters covered in this study are determined and evaluated as the fixed/unfixed state of the yarn, the state of having different twist values, and the presence or absence of melted yarn added to ensure better adhesion of the pile and binder yarn with each other. In this direction, to test the abrasion resistance of the yarns produced from 6 polyester raw materials and 6 viscose raw materials with different properties, they are woven into fabrics by weaving on a 65-density jacquard loom. Each fabricated sample is realized by Martindale test. This test is realized to see the result of friction force and impact effect on the fabric surface. Also, it is aimed to determine the resistance of the samples against pilling and surface change. Based on the results, different parameters affecting the abrasion resistance of upholstery fabrics obtained from chenille yarn were interpreted and it was aimed to be a pioneering study in this field.

In this study, the thermophysiological comfort and objective hand properties of modal, Naia™, cashmere, and cotton containing denim fabrics were investigated. Therefore, the air permeability, thermal conductivity, thermal absorptivity, thermal resistance, water vapor permeability, overall flexural rigidity, and compressibility of the fabrics were examined. It was concluded that using Naia™ sustainable fiber improved the thermal comfort and objective hand properties of denim fabrics. The elastane containing fabrics (T5 and T6) were uncomfortable because of their lower air permeability, lower water vapor permeability and higher overall flexural rigidity properties. Sulfur dyeing only affects the thermal resistance of fabrics, and the thermal resistance of sulfur dyed fabrics is higher than that of indigo dyed fabrics with the same compositions.

Colour fastness is one of the important characteristics, which depends on the further effective and rational use of the potential fabric resource, durability, wear resistance, and the level of competitiveness in the market. Therefore, evaluating the light fastness of colours of cotton fabrics, in the wear of which sunlight plays a major role, is an urgent scientific task. Chenille cotton fabric, which is currently in demand by textile decorators and modern interior decoration, was chosen for the research. The research was carried out using methods of visual and instrumental colorimetry. The conducted research is valuable for providing information to the market and for further analysis and implementation of the process of developing a system technology for designing chenille cotton fabrics.
