Improving efficiency of transport fuels production by thermal hydrolysis of waste activated sludge

Abstract: Abstract. The article deals with issues of transport biofuels. Transport biofuels are an important element of a system of energy security. Moreover, as part of a system it is inextricably linked to the urban, rural or industrial infrastructure. The paper discusses methods of increasing the yield of biogas from anaerobic digesters at wastewater treatment plants. The thermal hydrolysis method was considered. The main advantages and drawbacks of this method were analyzed. The experimental biomass (from SNDOD-bior… Show more

“…After the bioreactors sewage goes to coagulation chamber, and then to thin-layer clarifier. A system for collection and pumping of sludge from secondary clarifier into bioreactor was assembled to prevent secondary contamination and excessive removal of sludge [5][6][7]. The facility was additionally equipped with an averaging tank needed for automated pumping of sewage for treatment that allows reducing of hydraulic load at the facility and creating good conditions for biomass [8].…”

“…Maximum value is considered of 30%, otherwise application of floating feed may demand large costs [4]. As literature review shows, the implementation of floating media for wastewater treatment is not fully investigated yet [5][6][7][8]. The research was aimed to define if any positive impact happen in case of floating feed application for wastewater treatment.…”
