Improving eco-sustainable characteristics and energy efficiency of evaporative fluid cooler via experimental and numerical study

Abstract: This paper presents an on-going research project that aims to identify possibilities for wider use of evaporative cooling in process industry, especially the use of evaporative fluid cooler units. Experimental study is performed on small scale evaporative fluid cooler, while the correlation based model has been carried out to explore the detailed heat and mass transfer processes inside this unit. Numerical integration of mathematical model is executed by new approach, based on differential, collocation Simpson… Show more

“…The only possible solution was to use cooling that employed change of phase processes in the cooling agent [2,3,4]. Another important application area of phase-change cooling includes evaporation processes in refrigeration and air conditioning [5,6]. In thermal treatment of metals, controlled temperature changes are decisive for the formation of near-surface microstructures [7].…”

“…As no cooling energy is required, this kind of evaporative cooling is widely used to reduce the electricity taken by conventional air-conditioning systems in hot-humid regions [1]. Evaporative cooling of outdoor air is increasingly applied to enhance heat rejection in refrigeration systems and hence to improve their energy performance, as mentioned in [2][3][4][5][6][7]. Direct evaporative coolers and mist precoolers are devices which can be retro---------------THERMAL SCIENCE: Year 2018, Vol.…”
