Improving assurance of a sustainable route-split MANET routing by adapting node battery exhaustion

Abstract: Assurance networks are designed to realize trustable Internet-Of-Things including terminal devices/infrastructure service applications for new generation networks. To construct assurance networks, it is necessary to evaluate them quantitatively. In this paper, we provide one of case studies to evaluate them quantitatively. In mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), the network environments change over time due to the movement of nodes, the battery level of nodes, and so on. Assurance networks must maintain high perfo… Show more

“…Venkanna et al [30] proposed a route splitting algorithm in which a solution to battery faults is provided by the persistent performance adapting the nodes. Another exclusive method for power consumption is proposed by Takeuchi et al [31] which provides high performance in the dynamic environment based on creating assurance network. The energy consumption has made critical requirement to adopt effective green computing in wireless communication.…”

“…To meet these requirements, ad hoc networks should enact sound methodologies against security threats, fault-tolerance/dependability issues, and scalability problems. In paper [7], Takeuchi et al propose assuranceoriented route-split routing against node faults to alleviate battery exhaustion. In this method, every node constantly monitors its own battery state and role.…”

“…MANETs can be used as an emergency network in a disaster area where the fixed infrastructures cannot be used. As proposed in paper [1], Route-Split Routing (RSR) [1] for large scale MANET has been extended to assurance networks [7,8]. With RSR, nodes can communicate with a high throughput even when the number of hops between the source and the destination nodes is large.…”
