“…The converse observation that a small number of cases of uveitic glaucoma developed improvement in cup-to-disc ratio and MD is somewhat unexpected, although some similar reports exist showing this pattern occurring in some cases with open angle glaucoma. 26 Our sample size is not sufficient other than to provide preliminary data regarding the issue of potential improvements, predictive factors for improvement, and indeed whether such observations are robust over long periods of time. However, the cases reported did show sustained improvement across semi-annual or annual visits.…”

“…Recently published findings reported that VF data can undergo both short- and long-term improvement after medical or surgical intervention. 5 , 31 34 We have included the possibility of improvement in our method by applying an exponential fit to VF test locations with an a priori improving trend. An inverted exponential decay fit with a ceiling asymptote of the age-matched normal +2 SD value was applied, as opposed to applying a constant multiplicative (linear) rate of improvement to a longitudinal VF series, which seems to not be physiologically appropriate.…”

“…Studies have shown that eye surgeries, including intraocular pressure-lowering surgeries, 2629 cataract extraction, 30,31 and ranibizumab treatment, 32,33 can lead to enhanced VF sensitivity, which may trigger GHT results reversals. For our 97 eyes, we did not find any significant effects of eye surgeries on GHT results reversals (Table S2, available at www.aaojournal.org).…”
