In this study, the area of a biofilter representing an active area source was sampled by taking 12 odour samples from the gaseous effluent and measuring the physical parameters of the source, so that we can obtain the odour emission rate (OER) specific to the source. The odour sampling process is a crucial step in the assessment and monitoring of odour pollution. Direct measurement of odour concentration in the ambient air is often not sufficient to determine whether an activity is responsible for producing olfactory discomfort to the receptors. To observe the contribution of the source to olfactory pollution and air quality by estimating the odour concentration in the ambient air, the odour emission rate (OER) was taken into account, which is expressed in odour units per second (ouE/s) and is obtained as the product of the odour concentration and the airflow rate associated with the source. The odour emission rate was entered into the dispersion program AERMOD for mathematical modeling. In order to estimate the odour concentration in the surrounding air in the adjacent areas to the sampled biofilter, 2 mathematical models were made to illustrate the odour concentration on the site and in its vicinity in the most unfavorable weather conditions „Highest values” and „98th Percentile” to illustrate the concentration in the surrounding air excluding the 2% unfavorable weather condition.

Carbon dioxide greatly contributes to climate change and its emissions must be limited.Combustion of fossil fuels in power plants to produce electricity generates the largest amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere, therefore application of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) to this sector would help in reducing the emissions of this acid gas.CO2 absorption with aqueous amines is the most common capture technology for postcombustion CO2 removal and is characterized by high energy requirements, mainly for CO2 release from the solvent and compression of the obtained rich-CO2 stream. For this reason operating the CCS system in a power plant significantly reduces the power output and, consequently, the revenues from selling electricity.In order to deal with this issue while maintaining low carbon dioxide emissions, flexible operation may be applied.In this work, a detailed analysis of the application of the Solvent Storage mode for flexible operation of the CO2 removal section of a natural gas combined cycle power plant has been performed.Simulations in ASPEN Plus ® , properly customized for the description of the system, and a technoeconomic model created by the GASP group of Politecnico di Milano have been run to find the best solution. The variation of price of electricity from hour to hour for key days and for the overall year have been considered. Different values of carbon tax to be applied have been also taken into account.

The electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide is very much in the focus of interest today. Intensive research is carried out in leading laboratories trying to work out methods for making useful materials from this unwanted greenhouse gas using solar or wind power generated excess electric energy. In this work, electrochemical reduction experiments are carried out in homemade cells supplied with different metal electrodes. Electrolytes containing carbon dioxide absorbing components like monoethanolamine (MEA) or KHCO3, KOH, and K2CO3 solutions are used. Metal‐containing species were noticed in the used electrolytes after being in contact with the metal working electrodes. Therefore parallel to the electrochemical measurements, the metal components in the electrolyte were checked with atomic absorption methods for getting better insight into the nature of the electrode passivation. This paper attempts to compare the behavior of different electrode materials (copper, nickel) in CO2 capturing media, and investigate of the products of the electrolysis using Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy (SECM), Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) and gas chromatography.
