Improvement of operational efficiency of high water-cut oil wells

Abstract: This paper describes a new algorithm for selecting candidate wells for water shut-off works. A new comprehensive methodology for the selection of candidate wells for water shut-off technology is proposed, consisting of 4 stages, where wells with excessive water cut are identified. The reasons for the water cut are determined, and the effectiveness of water shut-off technology on a potential candidate well is substantiated and predicted. The proposed method has been tested by the example of two wells in terrige… Show more

“…The regression coefficients are indicators that define the accuracy of the models in fitting the experimental data. It is obvious that most of the developed models have high regression coefficients; this indicates that the developed models can efficiently describe the experimental data [35][36][37]. The adopted mathematical models derived in this work suggest that the amount of natural gas that is evolved from, and dissolved in, reservoir fluids in the investigated region depend on the characteristics of the reservoirs.…”

“…The group of reasons for premature watering of wells should also include the circulation of liquid behind the casing, caused by violations of the technical condition of the well due to regular wear and external influences, geological factors or incorrect operations during major and routine well repairs [14][15][16]. Column circulation includes a large list of manifestations of this complication, which can be represented by the classification implemented in Table 1.…”

“…Sand production depends on the water/oil/gas distribution in the total flow of the fluid (9,10). Some researchers argue that this is solely a problem of arch stability (11), whilst others argue that this is an issue of wetting and chemical reactions (12) or strain softening due to water incorporating into the rock matrix (13).…”
