Improvement of diesel injector nozzle test techniques

Abstract: Due to changes in the characteristics of the fuel equipment during operation, a considerable part of the life cycle of locomotive engines operate under increased fuel consumption, and thermal voltage, which often causes degraded environmental performance and reduced engine capacity and, as a result, low efficiency of the locomotive. A reserve for improving the performance of the diesel plant and the diesel locomotive in general is the implementation of measures to prevent changes in the characteristics of the … Show more

“…As is known, the combustion engine must ensure reliable operation for a very long time [48][49][50][51] under variable load conditions. Interesting operational tests of the diesel engine power system were carried out, among others: Aulin et al [52], Kami ński et al [53], Osipowicz et al [54], and Punov et al [55]. Pawlak and Skrzek [56] also modified the injection strategy in the Common Rail system using vegetable oils.…”

“…Among the research on fuels, the large share of gaseous fuels, such as LPG [19,20], natural gas [21], CNG [22], LNG [23,24] hydrogen feed systems [25], PEM fuel cells [26], and others [27][28][29], should be emphasized. In recent years, there has been a huge development in the field of internal combustion engines [30][31][32][33][34][35][36], the existing power supply systems for spark ignition engines [37][38][39][40], diesel engines [30,31,[41][42][43], battery electric vehicles [9,[44][45][46][47], and hybrid systems [48][49][50][51]. A completely different issue is autonomous vehicles (AV), which constitute a separate, quite extensive part of the transport sector and hence the great interest and multifaceted research in this field [52][53][54][55][56][57][58][59].…”

“…Despite these recent problems, the automotive industry has experienced tremendous development in the last two decades. It is visible, inter alia, in the improvement of the design of internal combustion engines (ICE) [3][4][5][6][7][8], the existing power supply systems for spark ignition engines [9][10][11][12] and diesel engines [13][14][15][16][17], the production and development of alternative fuels [18][19][20][21][22], and the development of innovative vehicle drives such as hybrid systems [23][24][25][26] or battery electric vehicles (BEV) [27][28][29]. Moreover, very advanced works are underway on the method of changing driving, i.e., development works on fully autonomous vehicles [30][31][32][33][34].…”
