Improvement of Delivery Reliability by an Intelligent Control Loop between Supply Network and Manufacturing

Abstract: Manufacturing companies operate in an environment characterized as increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous. At the same time, their customer orientation makes it increasingly important to ensure high delivery reliability. Manufacturing sites within a supply network must therefore be resilient against events from the supply network. This requires deeper integration between the supply network and manufacturing control. Therefore, this article presents a concept to connect supply network and manuf… Show more

“…Second, CoJoSim can also be combined and applied with dispatching methods that integrate not only manufacturing but also the supply network. Therefore, it could serve as an environment to train reinforcement-learning-based agents optimizing production planning and control of semiconductor manufacturers when reacting to events in their supply network [58].…”

“…We contend that DDC are likewise necessary to achieve more advanced SM-enabled operational capacities. As an example, consider autonomous production systems that build on SM technologies such as Big Data and Analytics (Bauer et al ., 2021). Firms that have developed digital sensing capabilities can be facilitated in understanding the potential of these technologies, which require expertise beyond their current knowledge base (Arcidiacono et al ., 2022).…”

“…To exemplify, Chang et al (2022) conceptualize a production system that optimizes energy consumption by integrating Cloud, IoT, Big Data and Analytics. Similarly, Bauer et al (2021) propose an architecture enabled by IoT, Analytics and virtualization technologies, which automatically adjusts production planning and control.…”

“…However, individuals are highly random and cannot be predicted directly. Safety, especially the active safety, is the main factor that promotes the growth of automatic driving vehicle demand, and self-driving vehicles can be very good to avoid traffic accidents caused by drivers because it is based on a highly integrated computer technology among many other emerging science and technology developments in the integration of smart car which is AI technology and an inevitable result of the rapid development of computer intelligent control technology [ 13 , 14 ]. It has a broad application prospect in the field of national defense and national economy.…”
