Abstract: Improving the modulation bandwidth of an electro-absorption (EA) modulator was demonstrated numerically by applying an optical pre-emphasis utilizing photon-photon resonance (PPR). By integrating an EA modulator within the laser cavity and by simultaneously modulating the modulator and laser's active section, the PPR effect contributed to the improvement in the bandwidth of the modulator.
