“…In situ polymerization of crosslinkable monomers can be an effective method to fabricate the crosslinked polymer binders for Si‐based anodes 149‐152 . Liu et al introduced a highly stretchable crosslinked polyacrylamide (PAM) hydrogel binder for Si anodes by in situ free radical polymerization of acrylamide monomer and bifunctional N,N‐methylenebisacrylamide (MBAA) monomer (Figure 15A).…”

“…Indeed, PAAd isplays good selfhealing properties as it contains ah igh concentration of carboxyl functional groups. [17,41,[49][50][51][52] These measurements clearly showedt hat the Si composite electrode film prepared with the PVDF binderh as ah igher resistance to stress and ah igher elastic modulus, but its low elongation indicates that the composite is too brittle compared to those containing PAAa nd Na-CMC. On the contrary,t he composite electrode film with PAN is very ductile, and am ore robust electrode could be expected in the electrochemical cycling tests.…”

“…The tensile stress/elongation and elastic modulusm easurements were performedwith composite films, whereas the adhesion strengthtests were performed with the composite films and current collector. Hence, on this basis, compositescontaining PAA, Na-CMC,and PANwould be interesting choices;h owever,i th as been also reported [45][46][47][48] that the regenerativen ature of the bindinga dditives after fracture could be another crucial feature.…”

“…Meanwhile, nano-sized Si is easy to reunite because of its large surface area and surface energy, but is difficult to achieve during production in a large-scale application [ 18 ]. Compared with nano-sized silicon, micrometre-sized silicon is a good choice [ 19 21 ].…”
