Improved fracturing fluid using: Organic amino boron composite crosslinker with BN covalent bond

Abstract: In order to create an improved fracturing fluid, an organic amine boron composite crosslinker (ABC‐1) was prepared from boric acid, triethylenetetramine, ethylene glycol, and mannitol. It has no irritating smell and its synthesis is simple, making it suitable for large‐scale field applications. To illustrate the advantages of the new crosslinker, it was compared to the organic borate crosslinker prepared from boric acid, ethylene glycol, and mannitol. The sand‐carrying capacities, micronetwork structure, and r… Show more

“…However, the shear viscosity of the zirconium lactate crosslinker purchased from the market is only 88 mPa·s under the same conditions, and proved the synthetic crosslinker has good temperature and shear resistance. In addition, compared with the boron crosslinkers in the literature, the temperature resistance and shear resistance are better 30 …”

“…Such results proved that PB caused less damage than boric acid. Zhang et al 17 prepared an organic amine boron composite (ABC‐1) crosslinker by adding triethylenetetramine to the traditional organic boron crosslinker with alcohols as ligands. The introduction of BN could obtain a more dense and complex network structure, and its temperature resistance was significantly improved compared with the traditional organic boron crosslinker.…”

“…2005), and they all have their own advantages and disadvantages. For example, organic boron crosslinker is cheap but has poor temperature resistance (Chen et al 2017a;Chaib et al 2021), and organometallic crosslinkers (Zhang et al 2019(Zhang et al , 2013 have good temperature resistance but poor shear resistance and hard-to-break. Generally speaking, the temperature resistance of fracturing fluid with hydroxypropyl guar gum as thickener is less than 140 °C, so in order to continue to use the low-cost thickener-hydroxypropyl guar gum, it is important to develop a new crosslinker with better temperature resistance and easily breaking to adapt to the exploitation of deeper oil and gas resources.…”
