Imposed Weighting Factor Optimization Method for Torque Ripple Reduction of IM Fed by Indirect Matrix Converter with Predictive Control Algorithm

Abstract: -This paper proposes a weighting factor optimization method in predictive control algorithm for torque ripple reduction in an induction motor fed by an indirect matrix converter (IMC). In this paper, the torque ripple behavior is analyzed to validate the proposed weighting factor optimization method in the predictive control platform and shows the effectiveness of the system. Therefore, an optimization method is adopted here to calculate the optimum weighting factor corresponds to minimum torque ripple and is … Show more

“…Particle swarm optimization based FCS-MPTC was proposed in [38] where the simple minimization of cost function was replaced with PSO in order to improve the steady state torque ripple. In [39], [40] optimized weighting factor was given in terms of rotor flux and reference voltage for matrix inverter fed IM. Here the author only studied the effect of weighting factor optimization for torque and ignore the switching losses in the inverter.…”

“…It has been applied to a variety of fields. Until now, many issues about MPC have been presented such as the cost function optimisation [21,22], the reduction of calculation time [23,24], the improvement of steady-state performance [25][26][27] and dynamic response [28], and the approach to fix the switching frequency [29]. This paper deals with one of the key points of any controller: namely, stable performance.…”

“…In [18], guidelines to determine suitable weighting factors based on an empirical procedure are demonstrated, but lack sufficient theoretical support. In [12,19], the principle of torque ripple minimisation is utilised to calculate the desired weighting factor online. However, the algorithm is computationally intensive.…”
