The literature in public administration has advanced various propositions to promote ethical behavior. Local governments have undertaken various efforts in that direction. Those efforts are considered critical for building ethical leadership and culture in the long run. Based on a literature review and use of Social Learning Theory, we identify four building blocks of an ethics infrastructure for public organizations. Employing a comprehensive survey of local governments, this paper shows that displaying awareness and knowledge of ethics, enforcing rules and norms, demonstrating policy support for ethical behavior, and incentivizing the right behaviors are key building blocks of ethics infrastructure that still need improvement in local governments. The reality of ethics infrastructure revealed by the survey is far from the idealism promoted in the literature. We discuss the results and offer some insights and remedies.

Influence of knowledge management enablers and processes on a sustainable manufacturing performance in Nigeria

The research objective is to investigate the impact of knowledge management (KM) enablers and processes on the performance of Nigeria’s manufacturing sector. The poor performance in Nigeria’s public and private sectors has been linked to insufficient or non-existent KM implementation methods. Survey questionnaires were distributed to the members of Manufacturing Association of Nigeria. Of the 500 survey questionnaires distributed, 424 were returned correctly completed representing about 84% response rate. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and multi-regression analysis. The results show that KM enablers variables (management leadership, information technology, infrastructure, and organizational culture) and KM process variables significantly contribute to manufacturing performance except for knowledge application. The research adds to the general knowledge by shedding more light on the impact of KM enablers and processes for sustainable manufacturing from an African perspective. Also, it provides academic support for investing more resources in sustainable KM-based manufacturing in Nigeria.

“…In particular, how do settings accurately monitor medication administration among client populations, what information must be reported to inform treatment decisions, and are there operations that support input from multiple disciplines and stakeholders? In the following program description and evaluation, we present an interdisciplinary review team (IRT) approach to psychotropic medication monitoring, which is a component of organizational infrastructure (Dixon & Loukus, 2013 ; Maguire et al, 2022 ) designed to (1) document the clinical, mental health, and medication status of students with ASD, (2) make data-driven decisions about medication prescriptions and adjustments, (3) evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of including medications with educational and behavior support plans, (4) confirm medication outcomes, (5) unify collaborative participation among professionals, care providers, and families, and (6) ensure student safety. Our description includes several case examples of children who presented with high-risk challenging behavior and underwent medication reduction-elimination trials including social validity assessment (acceptance and approval) of IRT members.…”

Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are often prescribed psychotropic medications but pharmacotherapy is typically conducted and evaluated based on clinical judgement without reference to objective measurement of treatment effectiveness and combined efficacy of pharmacological-behavioral interventions. We describe an interdisciplinary review team (IRT) model at a human services organization for children with ASD that was designed to standardize a process of psychotropic medication monitoring through (1) coordinated involvement of medical, nursing, behavior analyst, and special education professionals, (2) parent-guardian participation, (3) data-driven decision making, and (4) high-level administrative support. Our description includes case illustrations of medication reduction-elimination trials with five students and social validity assessment of IRT clinicians, nurses, and parent-guardians. Key components of the IRT model are emphasized with associated practice and research recommendations.
