“…Given that numerous IT applications would have a positive impact on sustainability (Molla et al, 2014), the notion of green IT has often been manifested in a myriad of terms such as green IS (Watson et al, 2010), IS for environmental sustainability (Melville, 2010), and environmental sustainability of IT (Elliot, 2011). Against this background, Zeng et al (2018) have taken a comprehensive perspective to conceptualize GITS, namely, any integration and cooperation of efficiently and effectively designing, manufacturing, utilizing, and disposing of computers, servers, and other associated subsystems to enhance environmental sustainability. This conceptualization, in turn, shares much similarity with Molla and Abareshi's (2012) definition of GITS, which refers to those managerial efforts and activities aimed at pollution prevention, product stewardship, and sustainable development through minimizing the negative environmental impacts of IT equipment over its entire life cycle.…”
