This study aims to determine the effect of nursing internships on nursing students' satisfaction with their nursing education. Methods: The study population for this research comprised 321 nursing interns studying in the Nursing Faculty at Ataturk University between May and June 2017. The study sample included 285 students who agreed to participate in the study between these dates. The research data were collected using Personal Information Form, the Nightingale Internship Program Evaluation Scale (N-IPES) and the Student Satisfaction Scale-Short Form (SSS-SF). The research data were evaluated using arithmetic mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentile and correlation analysis through the SPSS package program. Results: The mean age of the participating students was 22.4 ± 1.17 years, 70.2% of them were female, 49.5% were regular high school graduates, and 63.5% willingly selected the nursing profession. A statistically significant and positive relationship was found between students' total scores on the N-IPES and SSS-SF, and also between all of their mean scores on the subscales of these two scales, except the subscale of participation in decisions (p<0.05). Conclusion: Internships were found to increase students' satisfaction with nursing education

Do Nurse Residency Programs (NRPs) reflect the professional socialization process? Residency facilitators in 34 Magnet hospitals completed Residency Program Questionnaires constructed to reflect the goals, themes, components, and strategies of the professional socialization process described in the literature. NRPs in 4 hospitals exemplified the complete two-stage (role transition and role/community integration) process. In 14 hospitals, NRPs were of sufficient length and contained components that reflected the professional socialization process. In 16 hospitals, NRPs exemplified the "becoming" role transition stage. What components are most effective in the professional socialization of new graduate nurses? A total of 907 new and experienced nurses, nurse managers, and educators working on clinical units with confirmed healthy work environments in 20 Magnet hospitals with additional "excellence designations" were interviewed. Components identified as most instrumental were precepted experience, reflective seminars, skill acquisition, reflective practice sessions, evidence-based management projects, and clinical coaching-mentoring sessions. Suggestions for improvement of NRPs are offered.

Araştırma MakalesiÖzet Amaç:Çalışma, hemşirelik eğitim müfredatında ilk defa uygulanmaya başlayan intörnlük programına ilişkin olarak, dördüncü sınıf öğrencileri ile daha önce intörn öğrencilik sisteminin olmadığı ve uygulamanın yapıldığı bir hastanenin ilgili kliniklerinde görev yapan hemşirelerin görüşlerini belirlemek amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Gereç ve yöntem: Tanımlayıcı tipteki bu çalışma hemşirelik bölümü 4.sınıfında öğrenim gören intörnlük programı uygulanan 101 öğrenci ve intörnlük programının uygulandığı hastanede, intörnler ile birlikte çalışan 100 hemşire ile yürütülmüştür. Verilerin toplanmasında literatürden faydalanılarak araştırmacılar tarafından, öğrenci ve hemşireler için ayrı birer form olarak oluşturulan İntörnlük Değerlendirme Formu kullanılmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesi tanımlayıcı testler ile yapılmıştır. Bulgular: Öğrencilerin %96.4'ü, intörnlük uygulamalarının hemşirelik mesleğini tanımasına ve uyum sağlamasına, %89,3'ü el becerilerinin artmasına, %82.1'i sorumluluk duygusunun ve iletişim becerisinin gelişmesine, %81'i kendine olan güveninin artmasına ve ekip çalışmasını öğrenmesine katkı sağladığını belirtmiştir. Hemşireler ise, intörnlük uygulamalarının öğrenciler açısından, el becerilerinin (%97.9) ve teorik bilgilerinin (%91.8) artmasına, mesleği tanımalarına ve uyum sağlamalarına (%97.9), iletişim becerilerinin gelişmesine (%95,9), kendilerine güvenlerinin artmasına (%93.8) ve ekip çalışmasını öğrenmelerine (%91.8) katkı sağladığını ifade etmiştir. Öğrencilerin %72.6'sı, hemşirelerin ise %98'i intörnlük uygulamasının devam etmesini istemektedir. Sonuç:Hemşirelik eğitiminde öğrencilerin mesleki becerilerinin gelişmesine katkı sağlayan intörnlük uygulamalarının, öğrenci ve hemşirelerden görüşlerinin alınarak düzenlenmesi, intörnlük programının daha etkin ve verimli olması açısından önemlidir.
