Recent Development of Carbon Nanotube Transparent Conductive Films

Transparent conducting films (TCFs) are a critical component in many personal electronic devices. Transparent and conductive doped metal oxides are widely used in industry due to their excellent optoelectronic properties as well as the mature understanding of their production and handling. However, they are not compatible with future flexible electronics developments where large-scale production will likely involve roll-to-roll manufacturing. Recent studies have shown that carbon nanotubes provide unique chemical, physical, and optoelectronic properties, making them an important alternative to doped metal oxides. This Review provides a comprehensive analysis of carbon nanotube transparent conductive films covering detailed fabrication methods including patterning of the films, chemical doping effects, and hybridization with other materials. There is a focus on optoelectronic properties of the films and potential in applications such as photovoltaics, touch panels, liquid crystal displays, and organic light-emitting diodes in conjunction with a critical analysis of both the merits and shortcomings of carbon nanotube transparent conductive films.

The great popularity of portable, smart electronics has intensively stimulated the development of energy storage devices and other cutting-edge products, such as displays and touch panels. Interactive devices such as smart phone, tablets, and other touchable devices require mechanical robust transparent conductive electrodes (TCEs). Developing transparent supercapacitor as the power source is of significance to the next generation transparent electronics. Recently, graphene and MXene, the two representatives in the large two-dimensional family, have shown excellent electronic conductivity and attracted great research attention in the energy storage field. Importantly, high-performance TCEs are the prerequisite of building transparent supercapacitors. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of graphene and MXene-based flexible TCEs covering detailed thin film fabrication methods, evaluation metrics, performance limitations as well as approaches to beat these limitations. We especially focus on the fundamentals in the TCEs, such as figure of merit, percolations as well as conductivity behaviours. Graphene and MXene-based transparent supercapacitors are analysed, with a particular focus on transparent, freestanding graphene papers. Finally, the challenges and prospects of MXene for TCEs and transparent supercapacitors, in conjunction with a critical analysis of MXene shortcomings, are discussed.

The article puts forward the new layout methodology of the multi-floor linear cellular manufacturing layout. The proposed equipment layout methodology not just breaks the conventional single-floor linear cellular manufacturing layout but also meets the layout requirements of the intelligent manufacturing workshop for the stereoscopic aisle manufacturing cell. The layout methodology takes into account the least space occupation as well as the shortest total distance of logistics as the objective function, besides considering the limitations that exist between the equipment, different planes, different levels, and so on; also, a mathematical model is put forward. The multi-floor linear cellular manufacturing layout is solved based on the self-adapting multi-objective fruit fly optimization algorithm that refers to an algorithm combining fruit fly optimization algorithm and NSGA-II. Self-adapting multi-objective fruit fly optimization algorithm makes use of the fast nondominated sorting for the multi-target food concentration calculation, together with designing the adaptive olfactory search and visual search, and employing the perturbation operations for flight strategies, aimed at ensuring the population diversity. Simulation cases suggest that self-adapting multi-objective fruit fly optimization algorithm has stronger advantages as compared with multi-objective fruit fly algorithm and elitist non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) in the solution of multi-floor linear cellular manufacturing layout problems. The final engineering case application sheds light on the fact that multi-floor linear cellular manufacturing layout saves 57.6% of the area, in addition to 23.7% of space, and 29.2% of the handling distance as compared with single-floor linear cellular manufacturing layout. Accordingly, multi-floor linear cellular manufacturing layout has a specific reference value in the layout of facilities in the intelligent manufacturing plants.
