Implementation of Artificial Intelligence in Estimating Prime Costs of Producing Machine Elements

Abstract: Using methods of planning automating of production processes as well as artificial intelligence, the methods presented in this paper were constructed for identifying the set value of manufacturing process parameters, which are key to evaluating the costs of the designed elements. The proposed solutions were adapted for systems used under the conditions of unit and small-batch production.

“…The condition is to have CAPP class IT tools and MRP class systems and to implement the activity-based costing. These tools are important for considering processes in a holistic approach, not fragmentarily, only within the procurement process itself, which does not bring the desired results [18,19,20].…”

“…These methods usually make use of traditional cost accounting, and, in case of activity based costing, they are limited to only processing activities, without taking into account other costs, which may be later added in form of surcharges [9]. The problem of cost estimation on the stage of product design occurs when the elements are not definitely designed, or considerably differ from the previously manufactured products, which is characteristic and frequent in case of unit or small lot production [9,11].…”

“…An important element of the system describing the designed elements are structural elementary objects, which directly constitute the constructional form of the designed element - Figure 4. Each elementary object is associated with one structural feature that describes it [11].…”

“…It seems to have a bright futureit is estimated that precise, high-speed machining will develop in the years to come, especially in the automotive sector and in aviation. Financial aspects related to production cost cutting and continuously rising customer requirements result in creating even more complicated product shapes by designers and constructors (Więcek, 2013). This often causes a decreased element mass, and, consequently, problems during manufacturing (this relates also to tools).…”
