Nghiên cứu là trình bày việc ứng dụng Lean Six Sigma để giảm tỷ lệ lỗi của sảnphẩm quần Jean trong một công ty may mặc tại Việt Nam. Phương pháp thực hiện dựa trên tiến trình DMAIC bao gồm 5 bước: Xác định vấn đề, Đo lường, Phân tích, Cải tiến và Kiểm soát. Ngoài ra, nghiên cứu còn sử dụng các công cụ khác như mô hình SIPOC, biểu đồ Pareto, biểu đồ xương cá và biểu đồ kiểm soát để đưa ra các giải pháp nâng cao chất lượng nhà máy. Sau 1 tháng thực hiện, kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy việc ứng dụng các công cụ Quản lý chất lượng dựa trên tiến trình DMAIC đã giảm tỷ lệ lỗi từ 4.40% xuống 1.06%

To increase customer satisfaction in the highly dynamic and competitive apparel industry, it is essential to manufacture garments of superior quality. The study aimed to investigate the underlying causes of sewing faults and offer solutions for enhancing quality to a 100% export-oriented knit garment industry in Bangladesh. The study employed a comprehensive approach using quantitative and qualitative research methods to evaluate garment faults systematically. The whole garment inspection procedure was done on five common garment styles to collect the quantitative data. Some novel TQM (Total Quality Management) tools, Pareto analysis, WH questionnaire, cause-effect diagram, and a highly potential focus group panel were employed. The findings indicate the most prevalent faults like an open seam, skip stitch, and label mistake, accounting for 50 per cent, 29 per cent, and 7 per cent of all observed defects, respectively, and their remedies. The research's significance lies in its holistic approach to quality improvement in the knit garment manufacturing industries. This study provides a valuable framework for enhancing product quality and reducing rejection rates by pinpointing crucial defects, their origins, and effective remedies.

The plastics industry is important in the world due to its recurrent use in daily life and the supply it provides to other sectors such as medicine, transportation, health. Previous studies show that the average difference in global efficiency between the manufacturing industry and the World Class ranges between 15 to 25 percentage points, also affecting the plastics sector. The case study presents a gap of 17% regarding this metric in the thermoforming line. This efficiency gap has had an impact on cancelled orders, which generate 18.8% of annual sales losses. During the analysis it was determined that availability losses are generated by constant machinery breakdowns and quality losses are caused by the high rate of nonconforming products. Thus, in view of the scarcity of efforts in the sector, an efficiency maximization model is proposed that combines the management of time and machinery with the quality associated with the process. To this end, the integration of tools such as 5S, autonomous and planned maintenance to reduce unscheduled stops and standardization under a continuous improvement framework to reduce the sources of quality loss is proposed. In this way, an improvement of 12.15% in the efficiency of the line is achieved, increasing by 3.36% and 10.96% in the Availability and Quality indicators respectively for the M4 thermoforming machine.
