Implementation of a Motor Diagnosis System for Rotor Failure Using Genetic Algorithm and Fuzzy Classification

Abstract: Abstract:In this paper, the diagnosis of induction motor rotor failure with fuzzy theory and genetic algorithm is presented. The proposed method can evaluate the status of an operating motor. According to the measurement of electrical data, this research establishes the relationship of rotor failures with spectrum features. Through the learning of genetic algorithm, membership parameters can be adjusted to optimal positions. The simulation that combines fuzzy theory and a genetic algorithm has preferable diagn… Show more

“…GA, proposed by Holland [13] and DeJong [14], is based on Darwin's principles of natural selection and divergence [15]. GA is a global search algorithm, which has typical applications in different fields to solve optimization problems [16][17][18][19][20]. For instance, recently GA has been proven for its effectiveness in enhancing the opportunity to achieve a global optimal solution without falling into the local optimal solution to UA-FLP [11,12].…”

“…With their widespread applications, the vibration and failure of motors has been an important issue, and the failures can be divided into mechanical failure and electrical failure [2,3]. In general terms, the electromagnetic forces on the rotor surface are balanced when the air-gap distribution between the rotor and the stator is uniform [4].…”

“…Herein, two other algorithms, Genetic Algorithm (GA) [43] and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) [44], were also applied independently under the same conditions. We ran the above three algorithms 10 times independently.…”
