“…Hematocolpos is the term derived from the Greek words hematos, meaning blood, and kolpos, meaning vagina. 4 The obstruction may be primary (congenital), such as a müllerian defect of the lower female genital tract (eg, imperforate hymen, transverse vaginal septum, and partial vaginal agenesis), 7,8 or it may be acquired.
