Collaboration between archives from all over the world to preserve and provide access to fi lms is not new and there are many examples that testify to this. In 1991, the Lumière Project gathered European fi lm archivists with several aims: organizing joint restoration projects, writing a collective European fi lmography, and searching for and identifying lost European productions.
