Abstract:Clinical and translational research has identified deficits in the dopaminergic neurotransmission in the striatum in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and this could be related to the pathophysiology of psychiatric symptoms appearing even at early stages of the pathology. We hypothesized that AD pathology in the hippocampus may influence dopaminergic neurotransmission even in the absence of AD-related lesion in the mesostriatal circuit. We thus chemogenetically manipulated the activity of hippocampal neurons and astroc… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
