Impacts of Trace Element Addition on Lentil (Lens culinaris L.) Agronomy

Abstract: Adequate supply of micronutrients is important for the proper growth and yield of lentil, particularly in poorly fertile soil. This study was carried out to understand the effects of zinc (Zn), boron (B), and molybdenum (Mo) on the growth and yield of lentil, and how these elements can help manage soil fertility issues. In this regard, the morpho-physiological traits of lentils (BARI Masur-7) were collected from two experiments receiving the same treatments carried out during consecutive rabi seasons of 2015-2… Show more

“…The increased Zn and B content in seed and straw was showed only in the plot receiving of Zn and B containing fertilizers. Comparable results corroborated by the some earlier studies in different crops, where micronutrients application were influenced on the content of P, K, S, Zn, and B (Islam et al, 2018;A. B. Raj & S. K. Raj, 2019).…”

“…Nitrogen fixation is responded to micronutrient application. Similar judgment was made by Islam et al (2018) in lentil. The P content of mungbean (seed and straw) influenced significantly by the application of Zn, B and Mo as individually or in combination ( Table 5).…”

“…The management of the mineral nutrition is a key pre-harvest factor determining the yield and the quality of many crops [20][21][22]. The precise control of the mineral elements in the nutrient solution of soilless cultivations allows the direction of production towards specific purposes and objectives [23,24].…”

“…Lentil (Lens culinaris Medic) is an edible and popular pulse crop that belongs to the family Fabaceae. Lentil seed contains 25% protein, 1.1% fat, 59% carbohydrate, and is also rich in important vitamins, minerals, and soluble and insoluble dietary fiber (Islam et al, 2018). It helps to improve the soil fertility through biological nitrogen fixation (Quddus et al, 2014).…”
