Impacts of Paris agreement, fossil fuel consumption, and net energy imports on CO2 emissions: a panel data approach for three West European countries

Abstract: Global warming is a growing concern and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are the primary accelerator of global warming in the world. Since global warming is threatening the lives of all mankind and species, the Paris agreement was conceived to avert the negatives of climate change and it was adopted by the majority of countries. This paper seeks to examine the impacts of the Paris agreement, fossil fuel consumption, and net energy imports on CO2 emissions of Germany, France, and Spain in the post-Paris agreement… Show more

“…More environmental taxation, strict environmental regulations and fair treatment for allowing the NOC for production are the possible channels through which INQ can restrict the consumption of non-renewable energy. The utilization of FFE as fuel inputs in production systems generates many negative externalities in the shape of direct deterioration of environmental quality, bad effects on human health and extra exploitation of natural resources (Sadr et al, 2022). Therefore, the consumption of FFE enhances the burden of environmental regulations which further discourages industrial investment (Wen et al, 2021).…”

“…In order to move toward a more environmentally friendly future, Kilci ( 2022 ) underlined the significance of producing power with a small carbon impact. Rezaei Sadr et al ( 2022 ) conducted research on how the Paris Agreement, the use of fossil fuels, and net energy imports affected CO2 emissions in three West European nations. They discovered that increasing the use of renewable energies had a detrimental effect on CO2 emissions.…”

“…One of the goals of the Paris Agreement is to move toward a temperature limit of 1.5 °C and to restrict the increase in global average temperature to no more than 2 °C over preindustrial levels . Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS), an innovative option for mitigating the emission of CO 2 in the chemical engineering field, plays a crucial role in achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement. Of all the options for accomplishing the transportation task, pressurized pipelines are considered the most likely method to satisfy the scale and safety requirements of CCUS. , …”
