Impacto epidemiológico y económico de la vacunación contra el tétanos en adultos de Colombia

Abstract: This is the first study that evaluates the cost-effectiveness of a tetanus vaccine booster dose every 10 years in a developing country. Use of this measure would be cost-effective in Colombia, especially for men. As a result of the gender-based differences in the results, any decision about its use in women of childbearing age should take current vaccination into account.

A reduced price would be also consistent with prices of other vaccines in Colombia, like pneumococcal and tetanus vaccines, which are deemed ‘very cost-effective’ at prices per dose between USD1.4 and US$ 14 [ 49 , 50 ].…”

“…As far as vaccination in Colombia is concerned, other strategies classified as ‘very cost-effective’, with an ICER lower than the per capita GDP, have been found recently. Such is the case of the conjugated pneumococcal vaccine [ 48 ],the tetanus vaccine[ 49 ] and the Pneumovax 23 in adults over 28 years of age [ 50 ].…”
