Impact of Vermicompost and Zinc Implementation on Soil Physico-Chemical Properties After Harvest of Mung Bean

Abstract: At Research Farm, Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, SHUATS, Prayagraj a field experiment was undertaken in the kharif season 2021-2022, with 9 treatments and 3 replications, the experiment was set up in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) includes Particle density ranged from 2.09 Mg m-3 to 2.26 Mg m-3 in 0-15 cm soil depth and 2.30 Mg m-3 to 2.37 Mg m-3 in 15-30 cm soil depth, bulk density ranging from 1.193 Mg m-3 to 1.290 Mg m-3 at 0-15 cm soil depth and 1.247 Mg m-3 to 1.365 Mg m-3 in 15-3… Show more

“…The result observed in treatment T 1 nonsignificantly higher bulk density (1.32 Mg m ) and significantly higher percentage pore space (48.92% and 45.47%) and Water holding capacity (43.96% and 40.38%) were recorded in T 9 at 0-15 cm and 15-30 cm depth. This corroborates with the findings of [13,7,5,14,4,15,6,11,16,17].…”

“…The data in the table stated that the lowest available nitrogen (265.51 kg ha -1 and 263.29 kg ha -1 ), available phosphorus (14.87 kg ha -1 and 14.27 kg ha -1 ), and available potassium (178.36 kg ha -1 and 172.66 kg ha -1 ) was measured in treatment T1 (Absolute control) at 0-15 cm depth and at 15-30 cm depth, respectively, and T9 (NPK @ 100% + Vermicompost @ 100%) recorded the highest available nitrogen (288.05 kg ha -1 and 285.22 kg ha -1 ), available phosphorus (25.28 kg ha -1 and 24.28 kg ha -1 ) and available potassium (201.36 kg ha -1 and 193.73 kg ha -1 ) at 0-15 cm depth and at 15-30 cm depth, respectively. Similar findings were also observed [19,20], and [21]. With the help of these physico-chemical properties of the soil, it can be determined that treatment T9 is better followed by treatment T8.…”

“…The cake's residual oil and limonoids repel insects, and solvents or water extracts make the product a strong antifeedant and growth inhibitor. The seed cake is rich in plant nutrients (crude protein 13-18%, carbohydrate 24-50%, crude fiber 8-26%, fat 2-13%, ash 5-18% and acid insoluble ash 1-17%, with nitrogen, phosphorous, calcium, and magnesium) and is used as manure for soil amendment and for urea coating" [6].…”
