Impact of unidentified light charged hadron data on the determination of pion fragmentation functions

Abstract: In this paper a new comprehensive analysis of parton-to-pion fragmentation functions (FFs) is performed for the first time by including all experimental data sets on single inclusive pion as well as unidentified light charged hadron production in electron-positron (e + e − ) annihilation. We determine the pion FFs along with their uncertainties using the standard "Hessian" technique at next-to-leading order (NLO) and next-to-next-to leading order (NNLO) in perturabative QCD. It is shown that the determination … Show more

“…First, we discuss the details of the analysis, together with the framework that need to be considered in order to deal with the determination of the TMD FFs, such as the parameterization of the TMD FFs at the input scale. Then, following the SGK-FFs methodology [29,30], we present the method of the minimization and the uncertainties associated with the TMD FFs which are estimated using the standard Hessian approach. Now we are in a position to present the SK19 TMD FFs parametrization form for the phenomenological study of the transverse momentum distributions.…”

“…The most recent calculations for the unpolarized FFs for various hadrons and at different QCD accuracies can be found in Refs. [29,30,[33][34][35][36][37][38][39][40]. For the unpolarized FFs in Eq.…”

“…The most recent calculations are performed for the unpolarized FFs by using the experimental data from SIA, SIDIS and hadron-hadron collisions. [10][11][12][13]. For the unpolarized collinear term of FFs, we use of NNFF1.…”

“…Studies over the past two decades have provided valuable vital information on the structure of hadrons. Fragmentation functions (FFs) [1,2,3,4,5,6,7] describe the non-perturbative part of hard-scattering processes and along with the parton distribution functions (PDFs) of initial hadrons (in a given hadron-hadron collision) and parton-level differential cross sections are three important ingredients to obtain theoretical predictions for the hadroproduction cross sections [8,9,10,11,12].…”
