Impact of the codec and various QoS methods on the final quality of the transferred voice in an IP network

Abstract: Abstract. This paper deals with an analysis of the relation between the codec that is used, the QoS method, and the final voice transmission quality. The Cisco 2811 router is used for adjusting QoS. VoIP client Linphone is used for adjusting the codec. The criterion for transmission quality is the MOS parameter investigated with the ITU-T P.862 PESQ and P.863 POLQA algorithms.

“…This paper did not give a precursor in the next generation network (NGN) before its conclusion and was only mentioned in vaguely. [5] researched the effect of the codec and QoS technique used on speech transmission quality in IP networks. Ten samples were measured for the various methods of controlling and preventing congestion.…”

“…In this job, the techniques were not addressed only the outcomes were shown graphically. [4][5] The objective of carrying out this research was to evaluate the voice quality in Long Tern Evolution (LTE) through the use of various codec mode set. This study has shown that all mode sets worked in the same manner under distinct circumstances of track loss.…”

“…O Slavata and J. Holub stated that QoS for LANs can be assessed through software-and hardware-based approaches [8]. QoS can be applied to monitor network traffic and convergence using various techniques.…”
