“…This is closer to what was found in Chitwan, Nepal (66.8%) [ 27 ], and in western Ethiopia (60.9%) [ 24 ]. However, the current findings are higher than the 52.5% found in India [ 26 ] and 51.6% found in Kenya [ 25 ]. “…These findings are lower than 57% in Northern Ghana [ 35 ] and similar to 26.9% in Nigeria [ 36 ]. Contrary to the above, studies conducted in Bangladesh by Anee and colleagues [ 37 ], and India by Pradeepkumar et al [ 26 ], revealed that the majority of the respondents used a cloth to absorb menstrual blood during their menses. This was supported by Wiesemann and Adam [ 38 ], who opined that sanitary pads handle different densities of menses under a variety of conditions and activities, are easy to use, comfortable, and easy to dispose of.…”

“…This finding is similar to other studies reported elsewhere. For instance, a study in Nepal [21], Western Ethiopia [22], India [23], and Ghana [24] all indicated that more than half of the respondents have good knowledge of menstruation and menstrual hygiene. Ghana has made efforts to improve the Adolescent and Reproductive Health Services (ARHS) among these age cohorts (10-19 years) [25].…”
